Is a small bathroom worth remodeling?

Often more than a large one. A small room costs less to finish, and fixing layout and storage changes how it feels every day. Text us photos and we'll tell you what's possible.

What if it's our only bathroom?

We plan around it. We schedule the loudest work together, keep the toilet working as long as we can, and tell you in advance which days you'll need a backup.

How do you provide estimates?

Our 30+ years of experience allows us to give you a ballpark estimate of what the project will cost after a short phone call. You can send us a few well-lit photos of the space you're looking to renovate, and we will go from there. In some special cases we will arrive on-site to complete your estimate. The estimate will take into account any demolition and building that needs to be done, as well as the quality of appliances, materials, and details you're aiming to include in your remodel.

What moves a kitchen from $50,000 to $70,000?

Mostly four things: moving plumbing, gas or walls; the cabinet line; the countertop material; and appliances. Keeping your layout and choosing semi-custom cabinets keeps you near the low end.

How long do projects take?

Kitchen Remodeling: 6–8 weeks (average)
Bathroom Remodeling: 4 weeks
Master Bath Renovation: 6 weeks

Project time may increase if you request custom work or special-order materials. Our team preorders everything so your renovation in Buffalo, Amherst, Williamsville, or nearby areas starts efficiently, minimizing delays due to backorders or shipping.

How long will we be without a kitchen?

Most kitchens take 6–8 weeks once work starts. We'll help you set up a temporary kitchen with a microwave, hot plate and mini fridge in another room, and give you a schedule so you know which weeks are hardest.

Can you change the layout or take out a wall?

Yes. Moving a sink or range adds plumbing and electrical work. Removing a load-bearing wall needs an engineer and a permit, and we handle both.

Do we have to do a full remodel?

No. We also do focused updates, like new cabinets and counters in the same layout. Send photos and we'll tell you which makes sense.

What is the lead time before construction begins?

After we provide your free estimate, expect a typical lead time of 10–12 weeks before construction begins. This time is spent finalizing your project design, writing contracts, and ordering all materials so your remodel stays on schedule.

Do you provide interior design services?

Our in-house Interior Designer is an included benefit for every remodel client. They'll help you select quality materials, pick color palettes, and plan layouts for your kitchen or bathroom remodel. You'll get professional guidance and see your new space in 3D renderings before work begins—ensuring the final result matches your vision. During the actual Renovation, you will be in contact with our Interior Designer via phone, email, or text message to discuss any questions or concerns you may have along the way.

Can we buy our own appliances?

Yes. Send us the model numbers early so we can plan the cabinets around them.

Who will be working on my project?

Riff Co. crews are small, hand-picked Buffalo remodeling teams of 2–4 people, including your lead carpenter, who manages the project daily. Our project manager, designer, and owner (Erik Riffel) are all frequently on-site. You'll know exactly who to expect and will have direct contact if any questions arise.

How do you minimize disruption during the renovation?

Your comfort drives our process! Many clients travel or work away during their remodel, and we provide photo/video updates as frequently as you'd like. All Riff Co. crew members are fully vetted and insured, and you're always welcome to have a friend or relative stop by to check progress. Prefer to be home while work is done? We'll tailor the schedule for your peace of mind.

Who makes the countertops?

We work with a local fabricator for quartz, granite and other stone, and you can see slabs before you choose.

How do you handle damaged or defective materials?

We are able to quickly replace any materials that arrive damaged or defective due to the amicable, long-term relationships we have with all our vendors.

What about using my kitchen or bathroom during the remodel?

In most cases, your kitchen or bathroom will be unavailable while work is underway. We recommend setting up a temporary pseudo-kitchen with essentials (hot plate, mini fridge, etc.) in another room. If you have only one bathroom, we will make special arrangements to minimize disruption.

Do you handle materials sourcing?

You choose—we can order all materials or guide you to our trusted Buffalo NY vendors for the best pricing. Either way, you'll benefit from our trade discounts and relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality and value.
